The latest edition of ‘Chelsea’ magazine, available now in print and digital format, features an interview with Pedro. Having achieved so much in the game, both for club and country, Pedro’s arrival at the club was always going to excite supporters. Quick, direct and with the ability to score important goals, the Spaniard is a huge threat in the attacking third.
Pedro, who scored a debut goal in our 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion, tells the magazine why he chose the Blues ahead of other clubs.
‘I was looking for new challenges and new goals and to play more regularly, so I’m really excited and happy to be here,’ he says.
‘I’m also keen to keep learning and, hopefully, winning at this marvellous club. I think this is a great team, the league here is very important and I feel very happy to be here.
‘I had options, but this was the best. Chelsea have won many trophies and I think I have an opportunity to win more here with the club. We have great players with the best manager.’
To date, Pedro has won 22 major honours in the game, a hugely impressive haul by anybody’s standards. The winger is confident he can add to that tally during his time in London.
‘The responsibility never varies,’ he says. ‘You always have that when you play at a club that has stature on a European level, like Chelsea or Barcelona. You always have that same responsibility and the high demands that are placed on you at these big clubs, which is to be playing full out and in your best form all the time.
‘In that sense, I don’t think anything has really changed. I still have the same ambition, the same hopes and the same desires that I had when I was 20 years old and I hope that I can demonstrate that both this season and the rest of the seasons I’m at the club.’
