Hard-fought away win at Mapei Stadium (0-2)

Lazio grabbed their first win in the new year 2023, away at Mapei Stadium, in their trip to Sassuolo with goals by Mattia Zaccagni from the kickspot and Felipe Anderson.

Goals were converted on extra time of both first and second half of the game, rewarding the hard-fought performance on the pitch by the Biancolesti. Pedro played a key role on the squad despite being dropped from the starting eleven, as he was called to action soon because of Ciro Immobile early injury (15’).

Lazio made first blood before the break when a Jeremy Toljan handball inside the box was followed by Zaccagni’s goal from the penalty spot. In the second half, the local side were held by the visitor’s defence but could keep alive the game until the final minutes of the game, as Felipe Anderson secured the all three points.

SS Lazio maintain themselves fifth on the table, three points down from fourth spotted Inter Milan.
