A last-gasp away comeback against Lecce left Lazio empty-handed on their Serie A season debut. The trip faded to black in the final stretch, despite the advantage gained by Maurizio Sarri's team with a goal from captain Ciro Immobile in the first half (26'). Pedro Rodríguez played his first minutes of the season too, coming onto the pitch in the 71st minute to replace Zaccagni.
Lazio found a strong Lecce side at the Via del Mare Stadium. However, the partnership between Luis Alberto and Immobile worked again and put the Eagles in the driving seat 26 minutes after the kick-off. The visitors led the game almost the full 90 minutes, although he received several warnings from the southerners that finally turned into goals in the final stretch of the contest, with goals from Almqvist (85') and Di Francesco just two minutes later.
