Eagles qualified for the Europa League next stage. Alessio Romagnoli’s third consecutive goal allowed Lazio to secure a 1-1 draw against Viktoria Plzen and qualify for the Europa League quarter-finals. The Biancocelesti have earned a 3-2 aggregate win after a 2-1 away victory last week, both games of the tie with Pedro performing from the starting line-up. The Biancocelesti will meet Bodo/Glimt in the next phase.
Lazio started strongly and could have scored from a Nuno Tavares free-kick, but Viktoria’s defence kept the ball off the line. The visitors reacted just as quickly as Ivan Provedel was forced to a save by Lukáš Kalvach. Later on, Viktoria’s keeper Jedica deflected a Pedro curler.
The game became tricky as minutes passed by at the Stadio Olimpico. The visitors took the lead early in the second half with a Pavel Šulc rocket at the far post.
Lazio took a while to show a reaction but eventually pushed their opponents inside their box.
The Serie A side earned countless corner kicks, and one of these, taken by Mattia Zaccagni, they found the equaliser with a towering Romagnoli header.
Viktoria’s keeper touched the ball, but not strongly enough to keep it off the line, and the Goal Line Technology confirmed Romagnoli’s goal would stand.
