The penalty shootout lottery punishes Lazio as the Italian side is bowed out of Europa League. Bodø/Glimt took the big reward at the Olimpico despite suffering a 3-1 defeat, and earned the penalty shootout prize with a 2-3 record. Lazio had previously forced extra time, fighting under the support of the Biancocelesti fans who turned the stadium into a battlefield. However, a goal from the Norwegians just before the end of extra time forced a shootout to deny Lazio a deserved semi-final spot.
Pedro formed on the starting line-up once again in the competition and played 68 minutes of the match until his substitution by Dia, playing a key role in Baroni's attacking scheme. This year, however, he will not be able to claim his second trophy in the competition. Castellanos, Noslin, Boulaye Dia, and Helmersen were the scorers in the match, although Haikin's performance in the penalty shootout proved decisive, saving two shots in the final shootout.
