Lazio on advantage after home win over Bayern (1-0)

Under a spectacular Champions League atmosphere at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, Lazio beat Bayern on Wednesday night through a goal from the penalty spot to take the lead in the round of 16 tie (1-0). Pedro performed in the final stretch of the game, as the Biancocelesti are 90 minutes closer to a historic quarterfinal.

Ciro Immobile scored a 69th-minute penalty to secure a 1-0 victory for the hosts Lazio against Bayern Munich, who finished with 10 men in their Champions League last-16 first leg on Wednesday.

Immobile converted his spot-kick after the Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano’s clumsy challenge on Gustav Isaksen for which the France international was sent off with a straight red card.

Lazio stifled the German side’s attacks and Bayern were toothless throughout, failing to get a single effort on target in the match.

Felipe Anderson and Pedro challenged to extend the lead, but visitors avoided bigger damage and there are a lot to play for at the Allianz Arena, although Lazio faces the challenge with a deserved advantage.
