Pedro made a decisive contribution to keeping Lazio alive in the fight for a Champions League spot. At the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, against a powerful Inter challenging for the Scudetto, the Spaniard netted two goals in a thrilling final spell of the game.
Coming onto the pitch after the break (53’), Pedro scored twice equaliser on minutes 74 and 90, converting a crucial penalty kick under big pressure from San Siro, securing a point to maintain the European dream alive for SS Lazio. This performance earned him the MVP Award. Once again, Pedro has been key for Baroni's side, raising his season tally to 14 goals, a fantastic record to boost the Biancocelesti on all fronts.
Inter -without Lautaro Martínez- gave their all from the early start to win the match and aim to win a Serie A title, as they could have put themselves on track with the final game in Como remaining. But they didn't count on Pedro's determination. In the first half's stoppage time, they made the first blood through Bisseck opener, who converted a corner from Calhanoglu and, after a rebound, made it 1-0.
However, Pedro came off the bench at the start of the second half and changed everything. Lazio took a step forward and equalised in the 73rd minute after a goal that required a VAR review to jump to the scoreboard.
Inter took a step forward taking the lead again from another set piece, a free kick taken by Calhanoglu again. Denzel Dumfries, with a header, scored the second and put Inter back onto the driving seat. But there were still ten minutes left when a handball by Yann Bisseck was flagged by VAR. A penalty kick was awarded and Pedro claimed the huge responsibility without mistake, returning the game to a draw that gives Lazio a boost in their European aspirations. Everything remains wide open until the final matchday.
