SS Lazio suffered their second defeat in a week away at San Siro. After the comeback by Inter Milan a week ago in the same scenario, an early goal by Ismael Bennacer and a Theo Hernandez goal gave AC Milan all three points in their mission to ensure a European spot for next season. Pedro displayed a 33 minutes performance in the second half and his efforts to close the gap were unrewarded.
Last season's champions took the lead in the 17th minute after Olivier Giroud took advantage when Bennacer got the most from his pressure work over Marco Antonio and served a perfect assist to beat Provedel from close range. Soon after Hernandez delighted the San Siro crowd when he made it 2-0 with a superb shot from distance just before the half-hour mark.
Pedro's contribution in the second half wasn't enough to close the gap. A superb combination from Spanish partnership Pedro-Luis Alberto produced a clear chance for Toma Basic inside the box, but the shot did not hit the target.
