"It was a good performance"

Pedro was the hero of the hour as Roma picked up their first win of the season on Saturday night - beating Udinese 1-0 at the Stadio Friuli.

The Spaniard's second half rocket was all that separated the two sides in the end, as the World Cup winner gave Giallorossi fans a first glimpse of his quality.

Here's what Pedro had to say after the game...

- Big players make the difference. You are a big player and thanks to your goal we picked up three points today…

“It’s true – it’s a big three points after the draw against Juventus. It wasn’t easy to win tonight, against a side that makes it tough to find space or create chances, playing as they do with two compact defensive lines. But we managed it in the end, and we didn’t concede. It was a good performance.”

- How do you feel in terms of your fitness right now?

“I feel good, I feel comfortable within the squad. From the very first day they all really welcomed me. I haven’t had any issues in adjusting. I’m pleased to go out there with my teammates, to play and to contribute to a win like I did today.”

- Tactically, how are you finding it within this system?

“I feel comfortable playing in behind Edin [Dzeko], alongside Micki [Henrikh Mkhitaryan]. I hope to have a good season. Not just among us three, but the whole team.”

- What have you made of Serie A so far? It’s a tough league…

“Yes, it’s a tough league, very tactical and it’s not easy to break the deadlock.

"We have to have that mentality we had today; trying to be determined, trying to create chances and trying to win – taking things game by game. Today I thought the defence did really well too. We kept a clean sheet and that’s also really important.”

- Have you had a chance to welcome Borja Mayoral?

“I’m pleased he’s here. He’s doing well, we’ll see him out on the pitch soon.”
