Diego Costa’s 91st-minute equaliser earned the Blues a deserved point at Stamford Bridge after an eventful second half.
As in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford the two goalkeepers were on top form but there was nothing Thibaut Courtois could do to stop Jesse Lingard’s goal on the hour.
Before then we should have had a penalty when Daley Blind used his arms to block John Terry’s goalbound effort in first-half stoppage time. There was a more serious blow early in the second period when Kurt Zouma landed heavily and had to be stretchered off after lengthy treatment. He will have a scan tomorrow.
David De Gea’s best stop denied Branislav Ivanovic and early in the game Courtois had magnificently turned an effort from Anthony Martial wide.
The Blues kept going and got a tangible reward in the first minute of stoppage time when Diego Costa turned the ball in from close range with De Gea stranded. He nearly snatched a winner, but the point extends our unbeaten run both since Guus Hiddink returned and against Manchester United, the latter sequence now standing at 10 games.
