Barcelona) and Javi Martínez (Athletic de Bilbao) made their debut with the national team at the Tivoli Neu Stadium’s field, in Innsbruck. They were reserve at the beginning, but Vicente del Bosque let them both play at the second half. Pedro jumped to the field in the minute 60, replacing Iniesta, while Javi Martínez jumped at the minute 75, replacing Xavi.

At the match, Saudi Arabia faced the European champions and created problems for a Spain that took a lot of time to start the engine, but which, at the end was better than its rival with a goal of Llorente at the extra time (3-2). The first to shoot was the Arabian team on a set-piece, and the Spanish team answered with a goal of Villa, with a great pass of Iniesta. At the second half Xavi Alonso put his team ahead at the scoreboard and Arabia tied luckily, although the logic and the football appeared at the minute 91 to close a fair victory of Spain. The contributions of Pedro, Javi Martínez, Llorente, and over all, Jesús Navas at the second half gave new ideas to the national team, which ended showing his quality as a late winner.
