“We have what it takes to achieve our targets”

Pedro grabbed his first Olimpico goal for Roma on Sunday night, as the Giallorossi eventually romped to a 5-2 win over Benevento. The Spaniard scored the first goal of the game in the Italian capital, as further goals from Edin Dzeko (twice), Jordan Veretout (from a penalty won by Pedro) and Carles Perez completed the rout.

With goals in each of his last two games, it's been a positive start to life in Italy for the former Barcelona and Chelsea winger.

"I think everyone in the team played well tonight,” Pedro said. “It was a tough game, difficult at times.

“We knew that Benevento would be a tough opponent, that can create chances for themselves.

"In the second half we settled into our rhythm, we created a lot of chances and we scored five goals. We are pleased with the three points.”

The understanding between you, Henrikh Mkhitaryan an we have what it takes to achieve our targets d Edin Dzeko is improving – can Roma fight for the Champions League places?

“Yes, with each game I feel more comfortable within the team. The understanding with my teammates is improving, and with Mkhitaryan and Dzeko especially – but there are others like Carles Perez, who came on today and scored a great goal.

“I haven’t been here long, but I have quality teammates with experience and that is really helping me. The team is getting better, we have what it takes to achieve our targets."

Now, however, you have the added complication of Europa League matches…

“It’s a good thing that everyone is playing and getting opportunities. That can only improve the options within the squad. We are going into a tough spell of games, but now we will focus on the Europa League and then after that we will think about the league again.

"We have some tough games ahead against AC Milan and Fiorentina but I think that step-by-step we can develop a winning mentality and keep improving.”
