“It’s been a pleasure and an honour”

The contract between Pedro Rodríguez and Chelsea FC comes to an end, just the endpoint to a five-season stage full of successes and great moments with the Blue jersey for the Tenerife-born player. The final record of 206 game played, 43 golas scored and 28 asists made are the stats of an awesome spell at the London club.

On such a special day Pedro has published this open letter to the big blue family:

After five wonderful years my stage at Chelsea FC comes to an end. Thanks a lot to the club’s board, to the coaches and teammates I’ve had, and of course to the fans: thank you for the experience of being a member of your big family. I’ve been very happy here, you’ve made me feel like home.

It’s been a pleasure and an honour to play for this club and win the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League titles, as well as competing in one of the world's best football leagues. I made the right choice, I take with me wonderful and unforgettable memories. New challenges and triumphs will come for sure.

I say farewell very pleased with this stage of my career, and I'm also very excited with the next to begin. Thanks and good luck for the future.

Come on Blues!!!

Pedro arrived from Barcelona in the summer of 2015 and made an instant impact, scoring on his first appearance for the club in a thrilling 3-2 win over West Brom at The Hawthorns in August.

He leaves a legacy of commitment and strong compromise with the team, great goals to remember, three big titles -Premier League 2017/18, FA Cup 2018 and Europa League 2018/19-, and an awesome record of wins: when Pedro was in the scoresheet Chelsea FC did not lose the game, winning 37 of the 39 matches with one or more goals by Pedro. Some stats of a Blue legend.
