The Tinerfinian player is strongly linked to the Canary Islands, being the Island chain excellence ambassador in all the triumphs of FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Pedro also collaborates with organizations, associations, companies and NGOs to promote Canary Islands and charitable initiatives.

In December 27, 2010 Pedro was awarded with the Canary Islands Gold Medal. The President of the Canary Islands, Paulino Rivero, gave him this distinction and highlighted his good mood beyond his football achievements, as an example for all the society. In his speech, he said his humble character, sacrifice, efforts and perseverance is what led Pedro to the highest level in football. "This is the most important distinction symbol that Canary Islands deliver to people who have had outstanding achievements in their profession” ensured the President.
