Pedro will wear the number ‘18’, after a change with Albiol who will be the ‘2’

Pedro Rodríguez, the Barcelona player who has been one of the great novelties in the list of the 23 called for South Africa’s 2010 World Cup will wear finally the number ‘18’ after changing it with the Madrid player, Raúl Albiol, who will wear the ‘2’ initially assigned to the Canary Islands player.

Pedro explained last Tuesday that either he as Javi Martínez, being the newest at the calling, had to wait to be the last to choose the number that they will wear in South Africa.

As any of them liked the ‘2’, they tossed for it. The Athletic player won, so he will wear the ‘20’ and Pedro, an attacker, had to be content with the ‘2’.

But, finally, he has been able to change it with Raúl Albiol so that the Real Madrid player will repeat the number he wore at the last 2008 Eurocup, in which Spain was proclaimed the champion and in South Africa’s Confederations Cup in 2009.

Pedro, therefore, will be the ‘18’, one number higher than the one he has wear with Barça during the great season he has made on the command of Pep Guardiola and which has lead him to be called for the national team.
The player from the Canary Islands had the opportunity to wear that number this Wednesday at the central field of Las Rozas Sports Centre, where the national team posed for the official photo with the team strip just before the first training of the day.
