Pedro has achieved more importance in Barça

The striker from the Canary Island is already a regular in the starting eleven of FC Barcelona. A hard worked prize. Stats show that Pedro Rodríguez is one of the most valuable players within the FC Barcelona team. The current is his second season with the first team and the striker’s progress has been spectacular. Even that after what he achieved in the 2009-2010 season seemed quite hard to beat…

Thus far, comparing one season with the other, he has played 646 more minutes in the League and 191 more minutes in Champions League. About the amount of goals, they are the same. One year ago he added up 7 in the League and 2 in Champions. Now he adds up 12 in the local championship and 3 in the European.

Pedro’s presence at the right touchline of the Barça attacking line is not a triviality of the coach. The player, with work and skill, has won a place in FC Barcelona. A place not only in the team, but in the luxury team, which Guardiola trusts blindly on to face the most difficult matches.

Pedro has played all the League matches (nineteen at the starting eleven and five as a substitute) and, in Champions, he has only missed the last of the groups phase (because he had to rest). Given all this, of the six matches he has played, he was at the starting eleven in four and a substitute in two of them. The figures are more than telling and show that Barça’s number 17 is one of the greatest values that the entity has at these moments. And a decisive prove of his progression is the repeated calls for the National Team, both for official matches and for friendly matches.

We can also see the importance of Pedro, the importance he’s achieving while the matches pass by; with the special care he gives to the technical staff. An example of this is that the player from the Canary Islands has been kept in some matches prior to important dates. Like star of the level of Xavi, Valdés, Iniesta or Villa. Also Messi should have this treatment, but the Argentinean, being of those who like to play, has the approval of the technical staff to don’t miss any match.

Thus far, Pedro has played 105 official matches with FC Barcelona and he has scored 42 goals. He distributes these matches the following way: 66 in the League (24 goals), 20 in Champions League (7 goals), 13 in the Spanish King’s Cup (7 goals), 3 in the Spanish Super Cup (1 goal), 2 in the Clubs’ World Cup (2 goals) and one in the European Super Cup (1 goal).

About titles, the player from the Canary Islands is one of those players who can show off of having won everything (or almost): two Leagues, one Champions, one Clubs’ World Cup, Super Cups, one Cup…
