Messi-Villa-Pedro: The World’s best attacking trio

Messi, Villa and Pedro are making a historical season from the goal-scoring point of view, but also in other aspects, such as hard work, solidarity, humility, regularity… The Barça’s attacking trio is the best of the world (with difference) and the one which is in a state of form envied by the rest of the football clubs.

Together the three of them they’ve scored no less than 83 goals of de 118 the Catalonian team has scored in all its official matches. That means they’ve been very important in almost every match within this season.

Of the 42 matches they’ve played thus far (2 in the Spanish Super Cup, 25 in the League, 7 in the Champions and 8 in the Spanish King’s Cup), they’ve scored in 34 of them, the 81%! They only failed to score in 8 of them, but we must remember that in some of them they didn’t play or they didn’t play the whole match. Only once, in San Mamés (Cup), the three of them played the whole match and were unable to beat the rival’s goal.

The fact is the three of them have scored, together, five times. The last time was last Saturday against Mallorca (0-3). The other four were against Panathinaikos (5-1), Getafe (1-3), Deportivo (0-4) and Almería (5-0).

But when the three forwards don’t score, then two of them do it… This combination of two of the three top players scoring has been done in 15 matches, being the most goal-scorer the couple Messi-Pedro, having scored in 7 matches, followed by the couple Messi-Villa (they have seen their name at the scoreboard in 5 matches) and the combination is closed by the couple Villa-Pedro, who has scored together in 3 matches.

Obviously, when the three don’t score, and neither two of them, then one of them does it… there have been 14 the matches in where one of the three has scored a goal. Messi in this aspect has been the most decisive player having scored in 8 matches, followed by Villa (he scored in 4 matches) and Pedro (he did in 2).

These figures confirm Barça’s goal capacity. Because when one of them doesn’t score, then another one does it. We could talk of “Messidependence”, because the Argentinean star has scored double the number of goals than the ‘Guaje’ and the Canary player, but the truth is that the three of them work perfectly together and with their abilities, whether leading the ball into the goal or giving passes, there are keeping the team at the top of the table and with options in the three competitions they still fight for: League (leaders with 7 points of advantage), Cup (already in the final) and Champions League (in the last sixteen and to move forward to quarter finals they have to overcome a 2-1 against Arsenal)

- More than the whole Real Madrid

Together Messi, Villa and Pedro they have scored 56 goals (of the 76 Barça asdds up totally). The 63,6%. But besides that, they add up more goals than the whole Real Madrid of Cristiano Ronaldo, Di María, Özil and company… The white team has made 55 goals, one less than the best trident of the world.

On the other side, when the three of them score, Barça uses to win. The statistics related to this are the following: Messi has scored, since he plays in the first team, in 114 matches, of that Barça has won 101, tied 11 and lost only 2 (Atlético de Madrid and Betis). Pedro has scored in 38 matches, of that the team won 36, tied one and lost another one (Inter). And Villa has scored in 17 matches, of that Barça won 14, tied 2 and lost 1 (Arsenal) Three warranties of goals, three top players who are setting the difference.

We can find an unmistakable data of the big scoring power that Barça trident has in the number of goals the team has scored: 83. The amount, compared to the number of goals the team has scored so far (118), it’s amazing because it means the 70,33% of all the Barça goals. The Argentinean top player adds up to 42 goals (he’s just have five goals left to equal the record Ronaldo made the season 1996-1997), The top player from Asturias adds up to 21, and the Canary Island’s star, 20. We don’t need to say that, if they continue scoring at the same pace, and taking into account the number of matches they still have to play, they will improve the figures they have so far. Messi, on his side, can make a record season if he surpasses 47 goals, Villa will continue having the number he had in Valencia and Pedro, who the last season ended with 23 goals, needs only three more to equal that record and four to surpass it. The three of them can make a historical season at a team level, but also at an individual level they can beat records.
